Part of the “Governance” element of those ESG guidelines is transparency, so we’ve taken our time to assemble a comprehensive picture of exactly what we did last year in our journey to ongoing sustainability. Because it is an ongoing journey, one we are dedicated to following, we’ve also clearly spelt out our roadmap for the future, with clear, achievable aims.
Feel free to read the full Sustainability Report, but here are a few key points:
Our energy consumption was 10% lower in 2023 than in 2022 and we reduced our CO² by 21% from 2020 to 2023. We’re projected to smash that even further for 2024.
Implemented company-wide programmes aimed at ensuring the physical, mental, emotional, financial, and social wellbeing of everyone who works with Righton Blackburns. From emergency defibrillators, telehealth services, awareness policies, and our commitment to a living wage.
We’ve expanded our credentials to include ISO 14001 and Cyber Essentials Plus, to ensure we’re taking practical steps to ongoing improvements and to demonstrate to our stakeholders that we mean what we say.
While we’ve always been very selective with our suppliers, we have taken additional steps to ensure our supply chains are both environmentally responsible and entirely ethical, with no unacceptable labour practices at any point.
Longer term, we are aiming even higher. The roadmap has a 50% reduction to our 2022 carbon emissions, with Net Zero by 2040. We’re also aiming to eliminate waste entirely, with either removed or 100% recyclable packaging.
