Aluminium Bronze DEFSTAN 02-833 PT 2 Issue 4 September 2018 (NES833) is a nickel aluminium bronze similar to CA104 but manufactured to the requirements of the Ministry of Defence.
The MOD stipulate a nickel content that exceeds the iron content to improve the general corrosion performance. Other requirements include a minimum impact value on sizes above 15mm diameter and a full ultrasonic inspection to conform to Grade 1 material.
This grade has been developed primarily for offshore and marine applications but can also be used in the oil & petrochemical industries (non sparking environments) and features high strength, good ductility, excellent corrosion resistance in seawater and many other aggressive media and a high wear and abrasion resistance. The particular characteristics of DEF STAN 02-833 that enable its impressive physical properties include a nickel content exceeding the iron content in order to achieve good corrosion resistance.
We hold this material already 3.2 certified and ultrasonically tested to ensure that it meets the requirements of DEF STAN 02-729 Part 5 Issue 4, September 2023 and to NDE02-05 latest revision.
